Idemat 2025 and the eco-costs 2025 v2.1 LCIA Method are now available for openLCA. After efforts from both the IDEMAT and GreenDelta teams, it is now possible to get the database and method in Nexus for openLCA.

The database is a compilation of LCI data of the Sustainable Impact Metrics Foundation, SIMF, a non-profit spin-off of the Delft University of Technology. It is designed for the need of designers, engineers and architects in the manufacturing and building industry.
In total, IDEMAT for openLCA has more than 2150 life cycle inventories.

The database comes with an LCIA Method inside, eco-costs, also developed by SIMF. Eco-costs method is a monetized single indicator system that is prevention based, and in compliance with ISO 14008 (“Monetary valuation of environmental impacts and related environmental aspects”). This system has been built on EF midpoint tables, but has its own system to create 4 endpoints (Areas of protection: Climate Change, Nature & Biodiversity, Human Health, and Resource scarcity), and one single indicator: the eco-costs. Special attention has been paid to avoid double-counting (should be avoided according to ISO 14044, section 4.4.2.2.3).

For a detailed system description see https://www.ecocostsvalue.com/ecocosts/ and FAQ 1 – 5 at this website.
