PSILCA 4.0 is the latest version of the Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) database, offering significant improvements over version 3.1 in data quality, methodology, and usability. Key updates include:

  • Updated Indicators: All indicators feature the most recent data, with improved source alignment for greater relevance.
  • Expanded Coverage: 41 new indicators extend the database’s sectoral and geographic scope along with 2 new stakeholders (consumers & children).
  • Refined Methodologies: Risk levels and calculation methods were revised for several indicators, with changes transparently documented.
  • Enhanced Reporting Alignment: Indicators are now mapped to the UN SDGs, GRI standards, and Social Product Declarations for easier integration into sustainability reports.
  • Direct Impact Method: The method introduced in version 3 continues, enabling calculation of social risks directly from indicator values.
  • Faster calculation with less memory: Precalculated database libraries are now available, making analysis quicker and more efficient.
  • Custom Risk Levels: A global script in the professional & developer version allows users to adjust risk levels across the database.
