We’re pleased to announce an update to our Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) model, now available on openLCA Nexus.

This release introduces two primary improvements. First, energy recovery can now be modelled using system expansion by substitution on top of the separate life cycles approach used previously. Second, the gas scrubber model has been enhanced to explicitly account for hydrogen fluoride (HF) removal, including the corresponding sodium hydroxide consumption.

Alongside these new features, we’ve fixed a number of bugs, corrected parameter linkages, and improved the overall robustness and consistency of the model.
