Since 2005 the European Aluminium industry association collects high-quality data and compiles Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) datasets. These are now available to download for openLCA for free through openLCA Nexus, our market place for LCA data.
The datasets provide up-to-date life cycle inventory data based on primary data collected in 2021-2023 for the following processes:

The datasets were translated to work with the openLCA LCIA Methods package and the process was validated.
These inventories can be imported in databases like ecoinvent or BAFU to complete the supply chain. Using them on their own without connecting a background database will show only direct emissions.
