We’re happy to share that openLCA 2.7 is now available for download. This new version contains several new and improved features, as well as some bug fixes.
New and Improved features
1. Database migration tool
The new database migration tool allows users to create and run migration plans for part or all of a source database to a new target database. This first version of the tool supports migration of ecoinvent databases to newer versions.openLCA now incorporates a language-specific code-completion aid that will help users typing code by displaying available options and making the workflow faster.
2. Flow Mappings for EcoSpold 1
Flow mappings can now be applied when exporting EcoSpold 1. Official BAFU flow mappings have now been added for import and export of EcoSpold 1.
3. Social Assessment Tree
The social assessment tree is no longer an experimental feature. The tree appears directly in the results if the model contains processes with social aspects.

- New: Parameter names are checked in validation
- New: Support for data releases in the HESTIA client tool
- Improved: Search by synonym, CAS number and chemical formula with the PubChem tool in the flow editor.
- Improved: Calculation of product systems with many linked results is much faster
- Improved: UI when expanding and collapsing sections
- Improved: removed invalid Eclipse certificate from Windows executable
- Improved: Better location matching when exporting to ILCD
- Improved: Updated reference data
- Improved: Formulas of exchanges are exported to SimaPro CSV now
Bug fixes
- Fix: JSON export failed with formula errors and cyclic parameter references
- Fix: IPC server failed with databases with signed libraries
- Fix: Cancelling the folder selection in an export wizard, the old folder was still shown in the dialog but the export then failed with “no valid folder selected”
- Fix: Some special characters that lead to problems are disallowed in database names
- Fix: Updated the German and Korean translations
- Fix: Waste treatment processes where the reference amount was not given in the reference unit of the flow were scaled incorrectly during library export.
- Fix: Compartment mappings in the SimaPro CSV export

Once the new update is running, you can double click on a database to open it (as usual) and it will automatically upgrade to the new version.
